Welcome to the March 2006 issue of your Left-Handers Newsletter.
Many of you may have watched the TV series “Skating With Celebrities” in the U.S – which has an equivalent of Dancing on Ice in the UK. There has been much drama and excitement both on and off the ice relating to skating partners Lloyd Eisler and Kristy Swanson, but how many of you picked up on the fact that former Olympic skater Eisler is right-handed, whilst his actress partner Kristy, (the original Buffy the Vampire) is left-handed? Not a fact you would normally consider relevant to ice skating, it apparently caused the pair some difficulties because Swanson spins one way, and Eisler the other!
If you know any more about this or have information on any other sports where left-handers' spinning direction can be a problem, please let us know. |

In a spin: left-hander Kristy Swanson partners Lloyd Eisler |
We have managed to buy a batch of these fantastic edging shears for Club Members at a much reduced price - they normally sell for £29.95 and we have a limited quantity available at only £17.95.
This exclusive and unique left-handed edging shear is a real asset to all left-handed gardeners who work in a right-to-left direction along the lawn edge. The high carbon steel blade nearest the operator is fitted with a stainless steel stabiliser that keeps the shear sitting on top of the lawn in the correct position and the cutting blades are reversed to give a really clean cut.
The right handle is held still close to the right hip and the left hand does the work, moving in and out from the body to open and close the blades as you move to your left along the lawn edge.
Due to its size and weight, this product must be delivered by courier (UK mainland only) at an additional cost of £7.00 when you checkout your order.

In this age of digital technology, and advanced ergonomic design, the controls on cameras and camcorders are becoming increasingly right-hand biased. One of the most common requests we have is for a left-hand friendly digital camera, and from our research, we have found the Sony Cyber shot DSC-R1 well worth considering.
If you are in the market for a high-end digital camera with D-SLR quality you will find this camera has an excellent reputation. It sports a massive 10.3 million pixels and many unique features.
What we liked about it is the positioning of many key function controls on the left side of the body including Mode Adjustment, Flash controls and White Balance. Using the hand grip on the right, the camera is well balanced when using the left-hand for manual focus adjustments of the lens.

The Anything Left-Handed shop has been in Central London since 1968 and is known by lefties around the world. It is at 57 Brewer Street, London W1F 9UL.
Due to our ever increasing involvement with the Left-Handers Club and our online shop and web site, we have not been able to give as much time as we would like to the running of the shop and we think it could give a better service to customers if it was run by an "owner-manager". We would supply all of the products and help with our experience and advice, but it would basically be an independent operation.

If you or anyone you know are business-minded left-handers and you think you could make a success of running the world's original and best left-handed shop, please contact us with some details about yourself and we will send a full information pack and talk with you about how we can work together. Email keith@anythingleft-handed.co.uk or phone 020 8770 3722.
Best wishes to you all and we will be in touch again soon with more news and views
