Great progress
for left-handers
|
|
As a member of the Left-Handers Club you are helping
all of us to continue raising the profile of left-handers in all societies, and
it is exciting and gratifying to see that the Left-Handers Club is definitely
making a difference to people’s attitudes and awareness. Over recent years, we
have noticed a gradually increasing appreciation of left-handers’ needs among
the right-handed majority, particularly in design and education.
People are certainly becoming more open to the
concept of left-hand suitability and are increasingly prepared to consider left-handers’
comfort in design, layout and equipment in homes, offices and schools. More importantly,
left-handers ourselves are appreciating the benefits of correctly designed equipment
and are feeling justified in demanding equally suitable tools to right-handers
both in the home and the workplace. Overwhelmingly the message from you, our members
is that you are proud of being left-handed, and are NO LONGER PREPARED TO COMPROMISE!!
This message is what drives the regular information
campaigns undertaken by the Left-Handers Club among the world media, and in particular
the hugely successful annual “Left-Handers Day” where so many of you participate
and hold events in your local area. With over 40,000 members worldwide, we are
confident that interest in and support for left-handers’ needs will reach new
heights in 2004. Our retail company Anything Left-Handed now have the largest
product range in our 35 year history, with a greater variety of left-handed items
available than ever before, many from new suppliers, seeing the validity of manufacturing
left-handed items for the first time.
More schools and colleges than ever are contacting
us for advice and equipment for their students, and it is so heartening to know
that our children are now being actively taught key skills such as handwriting,
specifically for left-handers rather than struggling to adapt right-hand teaching,
often with less than satisfactory results. We were also proud to introduce our
first ever range of educational and developmental toys (link) last year, to enable
all left-handed children, including those who are exceptionally able, or have
dyslexia, ADHD or other learning challenges, to enjoy challenging and rewarding
activities that extend their skills as they play.
 |
The addition of the Write-Well
Mat and ergonomic and smudge proof pens
from Stabilo have also proven to be incredibly valuable teaching aids. This
is certainly a very exciting time for us, and we hope you will share in our optimism
that, with all of us making right-handers aware of difficulties we encounter and
improvements that can be made, the profile of left-handers can be elevated in
people’s consideration more effectively than ever before. |

Exciting website
developments for 2004
|
|
As a Club Member, I am sure you are aware that you also receive the benefit of
exclusive promotions and special offers on products whenever possible, and partly
to make this process easier and more efficient, we are currently developing a
major re-design of our website, www.anythingleft-handed.co.uk. All the features
you currently enjoy on the site will remain, but we’ve taken on board a lot of
your suggestions for improvements.
Viewing and ordering products will be much easier,
as will the updating of information pages, so we can continue to bring you the
latest and most relevant information and advice on left-handedness available anywhere
on the web. The site will have a new, fresh look and be easier to navigate and
enjoy, and we expect it to be launched in March, but we will let you know the
exact date nearer the time so you can be one of our first visitors!
There is a lot of work still going on with the
new site and we will reveal it soon.

Get your garden
in shape with our Members Special Offer

One of the most popular additions to our range
for 2004 has been the Senator Left-Handed Bypass Pruning Shear and if your thoughts
are turning to the task of tidying the garden, make sure you take advantage of
our special offer price, exclusive to Left-Handers Club Members for a limited
period only.
We have made a one-off purchase of 100 of these
great secateurs that the manufacturer had over-run on. They are normally £19.95
but we are offering this batch to Club Members at the special price of £9.95
per pair up until 31st January 2004 (if our stock lasts that long!)
To take advantage of this offer click
here to go to the special price page and click the "Add to Cart"
button to add it to your order. Browse around to add any other items you want
then checkout as normal. Note that the only way to get to this special page is
to click the link in this newsletter.
We will put a message on the page as soon as the
stocks run out, then they will have to go back to the normal price of £19.95.

Left Brain, Right
Brain game
|
|
And finally, Club Member Marjorie Streeter emailed us this to give you all a chuckle
– and a baffled look. Try it! ,,,,,
While sitting at your desk, lift your right foot
off the floor and make clockwise circles. Now, while doing this, draw the number
"6" in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction and there's
nothing you can do about it.
